The Festival of India was back in Krsna Conscious action this past weekend at the 7th annual 24 hour kirtan at New Vrindavan. Even though no FOI tents and sound equipment was needed at this Vaishnava festival, there was plenty of opportunity to immerse ourselves in devotional service via the 24 hours of non-stop chanting of the Holy Name.

On Thursday June 5, early in the morning we started setting up. 9:00am the tent frames were all assembled, so we took a short break to honor the wonderful Prasadam provided by the Atlanta Temple. After honoring the Transcendental Krishna Prasadam, we resumed our devotional service. By 6:00pm We stood up all the tents. Being on a newly landscaped city park that had strict regulations, one of which was no tent stakes, we had to use water barrels to anchor the tents.

Now the snow has melted, spring is in the air and the warm sunny days mean that summer is just around the corner. For most people summer is a time for relaxing and vacation. But for us here at Festival of India, the arrival of summer means that we are preparing for 25 ecstatic, blissful, transcendental festivals over the next five months!
After the devestating Storm in Washington DC on July Fourth of this year, all the tent tops needed to be replaced. Just last week we placed the order for all new multi-colored striped tent tops.
You can look forward to seeing a bright new looking Festival Of India this coming --2007-- Festival Season! Hare Krishna!
We're also working on updating and repairing the exhibits. More an that in another article, coming later...
